Post Ranger Swarm

I was messing around on my ranger and came up with a crazy idea, why not trap HA? The only problem was getting the enemy to activate them so i came up with the ranger swarm. This idea revolves around the skill Trappers Focus and about swarming one person and than laying multiple traps to kill them. By body-blocking them they cant move and traps being easily interrupted is not a problem with Trapper Focus. The builds go something like this:

team members 1-3
R/Me, Wilderness 12+3+1, Expertise 12+1

Trappers Focus
Arcane Mimicry
Dust Trap
Barbed Trap
Flame Trap
Piercing Trap
Trappers Speed or Serpents Quickness
Rez Signet

team members 4-6
R/Me, Wilderness 12+3+1, Expertise 12+1

Smoke Trap
Arcane Mimicry
Dust Trap
Flame Trap
Barbed Trap
Tripwire
Trappers Speed or Serpents Quickness
Rez Signet

Equipment for Rangers:
Required runes, full survivors or radiant(personal preference), and runes of attunement. +20 energy staff, and a defensive set.

team member 7*
Mo/Me, Protection 12+1+1, Divine Favor10+1, Inspiration 8

Spirit Bond
Life Sheath
Power Drain
Guardian
Shield of Absorption
Aura of Stability
Holy Veil
Channeling

Equipment: High energy set, required runes, survivors on all pieces, energy spear of fortitude, and a 40/40 prot set.

team member 8**
Mo/Me Healing 12+1+1, Divine favor 10+1, Inspiration 8

Infuse Health
Patient Spirit
Word of Healing
Dwaynas Kiss
Cure Hex
Inspired Enchantment
Power Drain
Channeling

Usage: Swarm and body-block while trapping. Maintain trappers focus and arcane mimic other rangers elites. Monks keep rangers alive.

Vimway tells you anything?
If not, then you've missed trappiung meta in HA

also @ Oro : Trapper's focus maybe?

No trapper focus make them not easily interruptible and increases wilderness survival by 2

How can you spike with traps is what I ask myself.

You can't really spike with traps, their only purpose in HA is for pressure and general annoyance. Even if the mimicry worked you'd still have trouble killing anything.

Also, just a general tip for HA builds on what skills you need:

Ward Against Foes + Grasping Earth (or a water snare)
Make Haste! + Song of Concentration
At least one hard interrupt (Physic Distraction, Cry of Frustration, Tease, D-Shot, etc.)
Weapon of Warding and / or Resilient Weapon + Life and / or Protective Was Kaolai (optional but highly recommended support skills with a 2 monk backline)

With few exceptions if you don't have all that, you're just fame farming the first 3 maps and there's already plenty of builds for that.

el oh el, srsly..

sure you would have some laughs with it but i doubt it will become popular...

prot monk: looks at who is being surrounded, and SoA them, GG @ ur spike!
mesmer: Cry 1 trapper, there goes the other rangers' traps also

So basically you're indicating to the opposing monk 3-4 seconds that you're going to spike. Sorry dude, your target will be protted the second you start laying traps, and every trapper on your team will be completely useless.

Your genius plan requires them to walk into their own dead, and you don't even have anything to encourage them to walk into it.

The old vimway at least had a warrior/mes that could blackout and lockdown RC. Even then old vimway was a much different meta. There is just much more condition control and loads more party healing than the old days.

lol no one bothers to actually read the opening post. What he's saying isn't to put up traps and let people wander into them. He's saying rush up to one guy (start with the RC monk), body block him so he can't get anywhere, and put traps all around him so that he will take thousands of damage and die.

Of course this fails since the target will just run away, the rangers will be snared and killed off one by one.

Yeah, and that will work... if the heal monk lags the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO out...

1) What prevents the second monk, you know the one most teams have, from simply healing shit up? Concidering 6 Dust traps trigger at the same time (which will be the most instant damage you'll have), you'll do about 120 damage per second. This is peanuts for a heal monk. (One Patient + dwayna's = 350 heal)

2) How exactly will you body block? Body blocking itself is a skill only very few people posses. (I am one of the few) Let alone without snares nor choke points. You're pretty much hoping for the enemy Monk to stand still for half a minute?

3) What will prevent the prot Monk from using SoA on the target (even himself), and again, even then, a heal Monk can EASILY outheal 6 trappers...

1. How are you going to bodyblock them unless they stand still for you to block and trap?
2. How do you plan to stay alive, especially with no partyheals?

Essentially what it comes down to is: how do you kill and how do you not die? I don't think this build accomplishes either, and it looks like you haven't tested the build at all. I'm going to close this thread so people don't continue flaming you for the insanity of the build.
